Energy Saving Glass
Energy Saving Glass
Improve your home’s energy efficiency with energy saving glass from our double glaze window installation service. We use Optitherm® which has a low U-value glass minimizes heat transfer, it is a high VLT glass lets in plenty of natural light to brighten up your living space. Our low SHGC glass also helps to keep your home comfortable in all seasons.
Low U value
A low U value refers to the rate of heat transfer through the window. The lower the U value, the less heat is lost through the window, resulting in energy savings and a more comfortable home.
High VLT
VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission, which is the amount of light that can pass through the glass. High VLT means that the glass allows more light to pass through, increasing natural light in your home.
Optitherm glass boasts a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) figure of 78%, not too far away from regular clear glass plus Optitherm has other added performance benefits.
Low SHGC
Low SHGC (solar heat gain coefficient) refers to the amount of solar radiation that enters a building through the windows. By choosing windows with a low SHGC, you can reduce the amount of heat that enters your house through the windows, maintaining your home’s internal temperature and increasing the energy-efficiency of the windows.
At HMR Glaziers we use Optitherm glass which achieves a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of under 0.60. Compared with 0.71 of a regular clear IGU, despite being just as clear
Low E value
Our low E value glass is designed to reflect heat back into your home, keeping the internal temperature warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. This results in reduced energy costs and a more comfortable living space all year round.
